In addition to the coastal parish of Altura, this municipality comprises three other inland parishes: Castro Marim, Azinhal, and Odeleite. The latter is home to the Odeleite Dam, known among tourists as the "Blue Dragon Lake," as aerial images shared online have shown similarities between the dam's configuration and the forms of an Asian dragon.
