Valldemossa is a picturesque mountain village, 30 minutes by car from Palma. The village is known for its textiles, lace, and refined craftsmanship. A variety of shops, restaurants, and typical patisseries are located in its lively center. The carefully selected properties found here are unique and stand out for their authenticity and the quality of life they offer. The main attraction of the village is the royal Carthusian monastery, which was originally the palace for Sancho I (King of Mallorca). Today, the Carthusian monastery houses parts of the original palace, an incredibly beautiful garden, a monastery, and a traditional pharmacy. In its church, one can admire frescoes by Bayeu. Additionally, the Carthusian monastery hosts a 16th-century printing press, the archive of Archduke Ludwig Salvator, and a gallery for contemporary art. Another attraction is the museum of Frédéric Chopin and George Sand. The two artists stayed in the monastery between 1838 and 1839. As a result of this stay, Sand's book "A Winter in Mallorca" was created, as well as various compositions by Chopin. Since 1981, music lovers can enjoy the Chopin Festival every year. Local festivals include the feast of Saint Catherine Thomas, who comes from the village and is the only official saint of the Balearic Islands. The feast is celebrated around July 28th. Valldemossa is located in the Tramuntana Mountains, which were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011. Thanks to its location, the village is ideal for hiking, climbing, and cycling. The golf course Son Termes is only 10 minutes away by car, and the port of Valldemossa has a small dock and a beautiful pebble beach.
