Boadilla del Monte is an integral part of the Madrid Metropolitan Area and is located to the west of the capital, from which it is 15 km away. It has a population of 18,450 inhabitants and 47.2 km². It borders the municipalities of Majadahonda, Pozuelo de Alarcón, Alcorcón, Villaviciosa de Odón and Villanueva de la Cañada. It belongs to the Guadarrama River basin in its entirety. This municipality experienced a strong increase in population in the mid-seventies with the establishment of a large number of single-family homes in urbanisations.
