Paiania is an eastern suburb of Athens located around 18km from the Athens city centre and 14km from the international airport of Athens. Paiania was one of the richest municipalities of ancient Athens and the place of origin of the famous Orator Demosthenes, who has given his form to the emblem of the city along with a vine leaf, an element of the Mediterranean flora that characterizes the area. The suburb has access to the Attiki Odos and the Ymittos Ring Road, the Suburban Railway and the Attiko Metro through the "Kantza". Paiania is home to the Vorres Museum of Folk and Contemporary Art, the Foundation European Art Center (EUARCE) of Greece and Cave “Koutouki”, the biggest of the 60 caves found in Athens.
