In progressThe Villa de Santa Brígida, with 18,300 inhabitants, is the third smallest municipality on the island and the one with the highest per capita income in the Canary Islands, located 14 kilometres from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Its urban centre is situated in a ravine with beautiful palm groves. Nowadays, Santa Brígida is a mixture of an agricultural past and a residential present, as it is possible to appreciate spectacular villas and houses that conserve elements of traditional architecture. Santa Brígida is also known for its rich landscape, and a few kilometres from the town is the Bandama Natural Monument, an extinct volcanic caldera with a depth of 200 metres and a diameter of one kilometre, which offers magnificent views of the central, northern and eastern parts of the island. The village has supermarkets, a public school, a nursery school, a kindergarten, a children's play centre, several restaurants, banks, bread factories, pharmacies, a public health centre, a residence for the elderly and a sports centre with an indoor swimming pool, where a farmers' market is held at weekends. Fifteen minutes separate the village from the two main first class hospitals in the Canary Islands. It is also close to several of the main private bilingual schools on the island and to the famous Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas in Bandama, dean of Spain 1891.
