Jakub experienced the beginnings of Engel&Völkers, what has changed?

Jakub Moláček successfully sells residential buildings. This year he celebrated his eighth year in our company. He experienced a time when there was only one department. Read how our company Engel & Völkers has changed during that time, what it is like to sell houses in Libeň and what Jakub does in his free time.

What kind of Prague district are you in charge of and what kind of clients choose this location?

My location is Libeň. Previously clients were attracted by real estate located in their immediate vicinity. This trend is slowly receding, today many clients do not care about location as much. This is certainly due to the fact that a number of city districts became significantly more attractive. Libeň has great development potential, similarly to the neighboring Karlín, where the transformation took place faster. The floods in 2002 and the following revitalization of the area played a major role. There are many new buildings and many renovated buldings, which make the location more attractive.

You’ ve been in Engel & Völkers for more than 8 years, what was it like in the beginning and what is it like today?

At that time Engel & Völkers was a small company, there was only one department and a total of ten of us. Many of the job positions we have today, just didn’t exist, so team leaders had to solve many other tasks besides business itself. The ways to get a client was definitely harder. People did not know our brand, as it is today. We didn't already have a number of sold properties, as we have today. Build trust and motivate people to list their house in our portfolio was harder than today. The market worked differently, many of the questions that clients dealt with years ago, became a daily routine for me. I didn't used to think of it that way then, looking back I realize what a disadvantage it was against our current market position.

You have experienced a time when rental teams did not yet exist. Does their current existence affect your work?

Definitely yes, especially the residential rental team. We already have an established cooperation between teams. The client can benefit from a wide range of our experiences. He or she can establish a relationship with our company, try our professionalism, for example with a rental service, and one day sell or buy a residential building.

When you deal with a new client, do you recognize the key moment when the client gives you his trust?

Sometimes we catch each other's eye at the first meeting, and I know we'll agree on everything. Sometimes that feeling never comes. Negotiations are always about interpersonal relationships and interactions.

Would you like to try to be a part of another team? Which one?

I would like to try working in one of the rental teams. In terms of work content, I would choose an office rental team, because I am more interested in business negotiations, facts and figures than residential real estate, in which emotions play a big role.

Can you rise above things or do you let things bother you?

I used to take it to heart when business didn’t go well to the end, sometimes even after many months of work, today I experience it much less.

Your hobby is shooting, how did you get started with it?

When I was a boy I always wanted to have a gun. I fulfilled my dream and my dream changed into my great hobby. I like dynamic shooting, it's adrenaline for me. Static shooting then works perfectly as relaxation to clear the head from everyday worries and stress.

What else do you like to do in your free time? What definitely encourages  you when you need to spring up?

I like long walks with my dog in nature. When I need encouragement, I reach for chocolate.
