Luxury villa rentals in Mallorca hit a new high

This summer the appetite for luxury villa rentals on Mallorca is set to be even higher than the last. An ever-increasing international clientele is seeking hotel style services and bespoke facilities with their holiday properties for the perfectly orchestrated getaway.

Additional services such as helicopter transfer, private chefs or yacht charters are all becoming part of the service offered (and indeed almost expected of) the very best properties on the island, and many of these will be on the books of Engel & Völkers’ new holiday rental division launched last year.

Due to the intense demand for luxury villas in the southwest of the island, Engel & Völkers Luxury Collection Mallorca now offers a carefully curated selection of top properties with a high level of personal services.

Especially focused around the popular Puerto Andratx and Camp de Mar areas, these villas will usually offer generous outdoor entertaining spaces, private swimming pools and plenty of privacy.

Spectacular views and top locations are equally essential to people that are renting a property for two weeks as to those buying such a home, and Engel & Völkers Mallorca, through their 25 years of experience of selling the very best villas and apartments on the island, understand the needs of such discerning individuals.

Sir Richard Branson’s private estate on Mallorca

British entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson’s private estate, Son Bunyola, is located on 680 acres of Mallorca’s northwest coast, and includes three private villas that are available to rent through the Virgin Group, who have signed an agreement with Engel & Völkers.

The ancient olive oil and wine estate is to be turned into the ‘best eco resort in Europe’ with its original central finca dating back to the 1800s. Three more historic buildings have been carefully restored into ultra-luxurious homes perfect for family groups, sleeping 8-10 people.

The largest villa, Son Balagueret, is especially magical. Built in traditional Mallorcan style, with a courtyard, it offers a 13th-century turret. Like the others, it comes with concierge services, and guests are encouraged to treat the property as their home from the moment they arrive.  The villas sit between citrus groves, vines and ancient olive trees.

Sir Richard, who has had a long-standing love affair with Mallorca, has said he loves the ‘unspoilt nature, picturesque villages and top-class restaurants’ of the area, that is dominated by the Tramuntana mountains and is close to his beloved Deià.

At the other end of the island, there are also some exquisite villas to rent. Rural hideaways handy to popular Pollensa, more modern properties in areas such as Formentor Beach, Puerto Pollensa, Cala San Vicente and Playa de Muro – the beautiful beach frequently voted one of the best in Europe are all available – with prices from €8,000 per week in high season.

There’s a spectacular seven-bedroom country house outside Pollensa that is one of the top 50 historic houses in the north of the island, with an olive-pressing facility and orange grove within its 175 acres. Yours for a week from €11,880.
