Carde Reimerdes from SEAWASHED Interior Design is an expert in bringing the relaxed atmosphere of the seaside into homes by creating a barefoot luxury feeling.  She lives on the Balearic Islands and designs houses, restaurants, shops, spas in Spain and beyond. Today she ist telling us in an interview, how the beach house style could increase the value of your holiday home.

Hans Lenz:
You are an international expert on beach house style. What is it exactly?

Carde Reimerdes, SEAWASHED:
For me, Beach house Style is a mix of various international styles. From Malibu to Long Island, from California to Sweden... I love to combine different elements when creating a unique SEAWASHED style.

Hans Lenz:
We see a new trend where Beach house style is aligned with luxury. What is critical to making this happen?

Carde Reimerdes, SEAWASHED:
I am inspired by luxury resorts like Six Senses or North Island in the Seychelles.
You can feel the authenticity of nature through a mix of wood, natural textiles and reduced shapes. Somewhere hidden away you will discover all the high tech that makes our lives easier or more pleasurable.

Hans Lenz:
You designed the houses for VIPs like Til Schweiger, Ursula Karven or Estefania Küster-Heidemanns. What were they looking for?

Carde Reimerdes, SEAWASHED:
Many of my clients desire a space to relax with family and friends. In an ocean house environment, it is not about impressing others. It is more about feeling the luxury of simplicity. Corbusier once said: “Simplicity is not equivalent to poverty“.

Hans Lenz:
What does it take to turn a house or a loft into a beach house?

Carde Reimerdes, SEAWASHED:
Together with the customer, we develop a concept in order to address the individual needs. 
The key is to find the best solution and ideal layout for the specific property.We  define all building and renovation tasks, budgets and timelines. We offer a selection of timeless furniture, textiles of cosy and rough structure and a natural colour concept. The luxury comes in,  when we integrate „state of the art“ functionality, that you discover only at second glance.
