Classical music fans check out the program for the Brahms Festival 2022, a concert will take place each Saturday from the 4th to the 24th of September. The venue is the beautiful, Baroque cloister of the Santo Domingo convent in the centre of town. This music festival made its first debut in 2020, when it was dedicated to Ludwig van Beethoven on his 250th birthday and accordingly ran under the title "the Beethoven Festival". In 2021 the second edition was the Mozart Festival 2021, held in honour of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. This year commemorates 125 years since the death of Johannes Brahms, who is considered to be one of the greatest composers of all time. The Brahms Festival 2022 was initiated by the conductor and composer Bernat Quetglas and the pianist Magí Garcías and enjoys great popularity among classical music enthusiasts.

Bernat Quetglas and Magí Garcías open the festival on the 4th of September. The following weekend (10th September), the young, Turkish pianist Can Çakmur will present some of Brahms' last works and will also interpret pieces by Franz Schubert. Çakmur has been awarded prizes such as the ICMA Young Artist of the Year Award as well as first prize at the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition 2018. On the 17th of September, Magi Garcias and Polish cellist Zuzanna Sosnowska will play the only two sonatas Brahms composed for cello and piano (chamber music). Sosnowska is the winner of the prestigious Lutosławski Cello Competition. The final concert of the Brahms Festival on the 24th September is the Cuarteto Quiroga quartet. The four musicians, who have received the Spanish National Music Prize, will perform several string quartets.
