TERRA CUITA

Terra Cuita is a ceramic factory located in the town of Pórtol, Marratxí, Mallorca. Its owners are a family of artisans who have been working with clay and pottery for five generations. They make custom design pieces and colorful tablewares.

1861 First modelling workshop 

The craft of potter goes back five generations in the family of Terra Cuita, handed down from father to son in the same way as the names and family names. It all started with a traditional oven erected in 1861 surrounded by a potter´s wheel and a modelling workshop in a modest wooden hut.

In their current facilities they have more space and better ovens, but they still preserve the original workshop space which they have integrated to their work environment. This is a constant reminder that they understand their profession, by innovating without forgetting all the experience accumulated over time and inherited from their ancestors.

Innovation without forgetting their traditional processes or the mediterranean character

Clay offers warmth and authenticity not only in its elaboration but when presenting food. It allows for slow cooking and the perfect amount of humidity in multiple sources of heat, and does not give off any toxic residues.

All the pieces can be used in microwaves or vitroceramic (glass ceramic hob), and can be safely placed in a dishwasher.

They make pots, pans, casseroles, fruit platters, hot pots, oil bottles, jars, jugs, and ladles, all made with earth from Pòrtol and with customized measurements ranging from 10 cm to 70 cm.

At Terra Cuita you will have direct contact with the artisans that mould the clay, without intermediaries. In addition to the pieces that you can find in their exhibition room, they are open to designing and making customized pieces made to order, from a traditional style, like a functional dishware, to special pieces that can include shapes or symbols suggested by the client.
