Nice: A city with many attractions

Culture and Sport

Nice reputation for being a centre of both sport and culture is well established. Certain activities are essential for tourists wishing to learn more about these two major aspects of the city. One of these has to be a visit to the Sports Museum, which recently opened in the heart of the Allianz Riviera Stadium. The venue allows visitors to admire more than 45,000 objects and over 400,000 documents related to sport. Mementoes of great champions, the history of sport from antiquity to the present day ... the establishment offers a dizzying dive through many sporting disciplines.

No less exotic are the cruises with guided commentaries that are a great way of fully appreciating all the beauty of the Cote d'Azur. Departing from the Cap de Nice with a passage near the famous Promenade des Anglais, not forgetting the famous Bay of Villefranche, one of the most beautiful sites of the French Riviera, the fascinating tour commentaries will allow you to discover all the secrets of the city and its surroundings.

Entertainment

Nice is a festive city par excellence as can be seen by the profusion of events of all kinds that are scheduled throughout the year. One of the unmissable upcoming events is the exhibition entitled '1917: Nice l'Américaine' which is well worth a visit. Taking place at the Palace of Marble, it explores the American presence in the city from 1787 to the Second World War. The exhibition 'Cendre et Lumière' ('Ash and Light') featuring the works of Korean artist Minjung Kim at the Asian Arts Museum, will also be on the agenda.

In terms of festivities, Nice is also a hotbed of very beautiful and memorable events as evidenced by two particularly colourful events. The first is the Fete de la Saint-Pierre et de la Mer (Feast of Saint-Pierre and the Sea), which revolves around a procession of fishermen from Nice followed by a burning of a boat in honour of their patron saint. The second is the famous 'Feu de la Saint-Jean' (the Fire of Saint John). It is a very popular festival that celebrates Saint-Jean-Baptiste and which brings locals and visitors together in a warm atmosphere.

Going out in Nice

If you love fine dining, going for a drink or a night out, you will be spoilt for choice in Nice. The Gossip Bar on rue Bonaparte, for example, offers guests a lounge atmosphere conducive to relaxation. To savour a delicious meal and to learn about the best of Mediterranean gastronomy, a visit the bar restaurant '360°', located in the forecourt of the Europe, is an experience that should be made at least once in a lifetime. With a terrace with a panoramic view, the establishment frequently offers incredible jazz evenings. Finally, La Terrasse du Plaza is another bar restaurant on Avenue de Verdun with a resolutely trendy atmosphere, regularly organising DJ nights.
