While in the previous article we mainly focused on the first aspects to deal with when buying an agritourism facility, today we want to take a closer look at the topic, going into what an agritourism facility actually is. 

What is Agritourism? - Law n. 96/2006

The activity of Agritourism is regulated by Law n. 96/2006, in which there is an accurate definition of what is meant by this particular activity: 

"An agritourism activity is characterized by hospitality carried out by the farmer (and his family members), to third parties. The activity takes place on the farm in connection with land cultivation, forestry, animal husbandry, etc.'. Naturally, the agricultural activity must remain prevalent in relation to the agritourism activity. Also included in agritourism are serving of meals, cultural and sporting activities and tasting of local products.

In these few words we summarize all the activities linked to the concept of agritourism. So the first aspect linked to this concept is giving great importance to agricultural activity, which must therefore stand above all others. After that, the entrepreneur can indulge in various activities, such as those related to hospitality, recreational, cultural, sporting activities and so on..

But what should be done to put agriculture first?

What is the best way to structure an agritourism?

In order to ensure that hospitality and cultural activities do not overpower agricultural activities, excellent organization and consistency in the distribution of space and working time dedicated to the various activities is required. 

It is therefore necessary to identify suitable spaces and resources which can offer such experiences to the customer as to make the service unique. Fundamental then are also the investments that each entrepreneur will have to make in order to restore the buildings of his or her structure and adapt them to the planned services, which will have to comply with the hygiene and health regulations established by the regions.
