Laveno Mombello: Location and surroundings of this property

Laveno lies along the Lombard shore of Lago Maggiore and is a very important touristic centre. Laveno encompasses several timeless landscapes: we are in the North of Italy but the climate is Mediterranean and the view spaces from the stretch of water to mountain peaks. The tourist port is very important, through which the ferry service connects Laveno to Intra, on the Piedmontese side. From here it is possible to visit the Borromean Islands and the other Lake wonders. Above the town stands the Sasso del Ferro mountain, reachable by cable car, which is one of the most popular panoramic Lake Maggiore location, not only by tourists but also by hang gliding and paragliding lovers. From the tourist point of view, Laveno Mombello is one of the most easily reachable and well-connected destinations to the major Lombard cities: The North railways connects Laveno to Varese and then to Milan. While the State Railway will bring you to Switzerland; the ferry let you cross the Lake by car and reach in a short time the Piedmont’s tourist centres, the Laghi highway can easily be reached both through the highway Besozzo-Vergiate, in Sesto Calende, and beyond the Lake, near Gravellona Toce. Today the town centre offers a beautiful walk on the lakeside, with arcade buildings and pedestrian paths. The vitality of the town does not fail to offer ideas for shopping. Also, Laveno was an important production centre of ceramics and porcelain, one of the largest in Italy and Europe. The factories, now closed, have given life to the Civic Collection of Pottery, a museum that contains the most significant artistic ceramics produced here from the end of the 19th century onwards. The historic centre hosts the beautiful Villa De Angeli Frua, famous for its renowned botanical park. Not far, along the Valcuvia, another charming dwelling is Villa della Porta Bozzolo, located in Casalzuigno. Close to Laveno we also find the Eremo of S.Caterina del Sasso: a jewel set in the rock overlooking the waters of Lake Maggiore where you can admire incredible sunsets.
