Discrete, fast and with years of market knowledge.
Siena and its surroundings are a true "reserve" for arts and crafts.
Walking through the streets of the city, you will find old shops and workshops where weavers, potters, blacksmiths, leatherworkers and sculptors work with the passion and craftsmanship of the past, using techniques passed down from generation to generation.
The clay-rich hills have led the Sienese to become experts in the production of pottery. Already in the 14th century, the craftsmen of Siena made terracotta and majolica objects. Still today, the tradition continues in the kilns of the city, where pitchers, lamps and bowls of warm and golden colors are brought to life.
Absolutely typical and characteristic of Siena are the bells of Santa Lucia made of terracotta, hand-painted in the colors of the contrades of the Palio di Siena. Traditionally they are sold in the street Pian dei Mantellini on the day of Santa Lucia, which is celebrated on December 13th. The bells are traditionally given to children to keep the winter demons away from them.
