Become a member/shareholder in the Wild Rivers Nature Reserve Home Owners Association, a registered private company who owns the 2 600 ha large wildlife farm. Owners have a say in the future and further development of the reserve and new initiatives and projects. The reserve promotes low density and there are only 32 stands pegged out along the confluence of the Blyde & Olifants Rivers.
The reserve is managed by different committees consisting of landowners. Roads, electric fencing, security, bush clearing, game management, water reticulation, electricity are attended to by a full-time farm manager assisted by the different committees.
Regular game counts are conducted to ensure that the carrying capacity of the farm is not exceeded and that game species are kept in proportion. The farm carries Impala, Wildebeest, Zebra, Kudu, Giraffe, Waterbuck, Bushbuck, Klipspringer, Duiker, Warthog, Leopard, Hyena, variation of smaller cat species – Caracal, Civet, African Wild Cat. On the river, Hippo, Crocodile, Baboon are frequently spotted.
The riverside bush is ideal for hosting the very rare Pel’s Fishing Owl. Other species such as Goliath and Grey Heron, Trumpeter Hornbill, Hooded Vulture, Fish Eagle are some of the larger bird species nesting in the Wild Fig, Jackalberry and Matumi trees on the river bank.
