Muro and Playa de Muro lie in northeastern Mallorca, in one of the island’s most desirable coastal settings. Playa de Muro occupies the central stretch of the 8.5 km of fine white sand forming the Bay of Alcudia, and is considered one of Mallorca’s finest beaches. Bordering Port Alcudia and Can Picafort, it combines turquoise waters, wide sandy shores and a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere.
Just inland, lakes and canals lead to the S’Albufera Natural Reserve, a protected 1,600-hectare wetland and one of the region’s most important ecological sites. A haven for birdwatchers, walkers and nature enthusiasts, it invites visitors to explore its trails and rich biodiversity.
The area offers a wide range of outdoor activities, including cycling, beach volleyball, diving, windsurfing, sailing and waterskiing.
Around 9 km inland lies the charming village of Muro, ideal for those seeking authentic Mallorcan life within a peaceful, international community. Well connected by bus and train, it borders Alcudia, Santa Margalida, Llubí and Sa Pobla, and sits on fertile farmland known for its fresh local produce.
Muro celebrates the lively Sant Joan festivities over two weeks in July, while its autumn fair in early November is famous for its giant pumpkins. The village also stands out for its wine production, traditional crafts and sandstone sculptures created from stone extracted from its historic quarries — a perfect blend of heritage, nature and Mediterranean lifestyle.
