Cadegliano Viconago is a charming village made up of green open spaces with small squares and narrow lanes, bearing witness to the continuity of the social life of local communities tied to ancient traditions. The Old Station in Art Nouveau style, now home to the municipal library, the clinic and the post office, is the work of Architect Sommaruga. An unmissable destination is Argentera Park. The park is gathered all around the Dovrana Stream, immersed in nature where one enjoys great peace. You can take walks to discover the many plant species, admire the frescoes that decorate the old mills, go jogging, or rest and read on one of the benches. The Tarca Stream rises in Cadegliano Viconago near Alpe Prada and flows into the Tresa River at Lavena Ponte Tresa, which marks the border with Switzerland. Its main tributaries are the Valle Ronco and Dovrana streams. The municipal area overlooks Lake Lugano, also known as Ceresio. This is a branched pre-Alpine lake along the Italian-Swiss border with an area of 48.7 km². Ceresio is the Italian form of the Latin name Ceresium, of uncertain etymology: according to some, it is to be traced to an ancient Roman place name “Ceresium”, whose most accurate translation would be “bluer than the sky”. Others, however, state that the name derives from the Celtic “keresius”, meaning “branched”, and in fact the shape of Lake Ceresio is indeed branched, with several arms. The center of the provincial capital, Varese, and the motorway to Milan are 19 km away, while Malpensa International Airport is 60 km away. The Swiss border can be conveniently reached by traveling 3 km, while in just 7 km you can reach the Lugano Golf Club. After 15 km you reach the shore of Lake Maggiore.
