In the last years, the centre of Malaga has been transformed and found a new life. It is being rediscovered by the world, while retaining a very Spanish and Andalusian atmosphere. The centre offers an eclectic mix of new exclusive boutiques, hipster cafés, gastro bars alongside old family restaurants and small stores. In the evening, the terraces fill up with people and they feature some of the best tapas and seafood restaurants in Andalusia. A large part of the historic district has gotten pedestrianised. You can also visit the famed Picasso and Carmen Thyssen museums. The old Moorish castles of Gibralfaro and the Alcazaba sit on top of the hill, overlooking the city for almost 1000 years.
