L'Ametlla de Mar is located in the southern coastal area of the Costa Daurada, located between the ravine of l'Àliga, to the south, and Cape Terme, to the north. The interior of the municipality is occupied by the Catalan coastal mountains (Sierra de la Barra).
The climate presents mild winters with little rain, without being excessively cold. Summers, hot from June to September, have subtropical temperatures, are dry and with humid air. The rains are scarce and fall irregularly, mainly in autumn.
From what the experts say, thanks to the proximity of the mouth of the Ebro, the fish and shellfish of L'Ametlla have a unique and special flavour. That is why the fruits of the sea are the backbone of the local gastronomy.
The area is ideal for lovers of diving, sailing, swimming and all kinds of sports related to the sea. There are also many possibilities to do routes on foot or by mountain bike to finish discovering the most charming corners of this coastal municipality. The Calafat motorcycling circuit completes the sports offer. For those who love adventure, in l'Ametlla de Mar, you can enjoy practically virgin beaches, where you can listen to the sound of the waves, while breathing in the air of the valley. And for those who love the mountains, a few minutes by car or by public transport, you can enjoy trails and magical landscapes, the extraordinary wealth that this place offers.
