ÖlheizungThe municipal term of Guadalix de la Sierra is integrated in the region of the High Basin of the Manzanares and limits to the North with the municipalities of Bustarviejo, Navalafuente and Cabanillas de la Sierra; to the South with Colmenar Viejo; to the East with Venturada, El Vellón and Pedrezuela; and to the west with Miraflores de la Sierra. Guadalix, is located 49 kilometers from Madrid capital in the Jarama river basin. It has a population of 5,982 inhabitants. The new constructions have turned Guadalix de la Sierra into a dormitory and second home city, which means that in times of summer, its habitual population multiplies by four. The construction of modern buildings (chalets and single-family homes) in recent years has caused a profound change of the town, although in the old town some typical rural constructions are conserved. The most representative monuments of its architectonic patrimony are the church of San Juan Baptist, the building of the City council and the Hermitage of the Virgin of the Espinar. Guadalix also offers a deep contact with nature. Its main fluvial channel is the Guadalix River, whose waters have been dammed in the Pedrezuela reservoir. Because of its location in the valley, Guadalix de la Sierra enjoys a characteristic microclimate, with not too cold winters and summers of mild temperatures.
