Valldemossa is a beautiful village in western Mallorca, a 30-minute drive from Palma. Another attraction is the Frédéric Chopin and George Sand Museum, commemorating their stay at the monastery between 1838 and 1839, where Chopin composed his famous preludes and Sand wrote her autobiographical novel “A Winter in Mallorca.” Since 1981, music lovers have been able to enjoy the Chopin Festival every year. Among the local festivities is the celebration held around July 28 in honor of Saint Catherine Thomas, a native of the village and the only officially recognized saint of the Balearic Islands. The village is enchanting in its beauty, and its landscape simply breathtaking. Located in the Tramuntana Mountains, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011, Valldemossa is ideal for hiking, climbing, and cycling. Son Termes Golf Course is a 10-minute drive away, and the Port of Valldemossa has a small marina and a lovely pebble beach.
