Located in the heart of the island, only 30 minutes from the center of Palma, the airport and the beaches: Sineu is one of the most popular villages for foreigners who want to experience authentic Mallorcan life without giving up comfort. The market held every Wednesday is among the most visited and most popular on the island. In addition to the typical stalls, there is a wide selection of food, clothing, books and animals of all kinds, as it is the island’s only livestock market. It has around 4,000 inhabitants and a wide culinary offer, as well as numerous cafés, hotels, a pharmacy, a train station and a sports center. Among the best-known restaurants are Tomassini, opened in 2003 and specializing in pizza and pasta, and Molí den Pau, which combines traditional Mallorcan and typical cuisine. There are also several hotels in the town center, such as Ten Mallorca—a family-run luxury boutique hotel with a total of 10 rooms. The old parish church stands out with its seven-story bell tower. Next to the Church of Santa Maria is a small museum with a collection of medieval pottery that can be visited on market days. You can take a pleasant walk through the streets of Sineu and see the old wells, crosses or olive branches that decorate the façades, as well as the old cellars and manor houses. The old mills can be seen from much of Mallorca and recall the importance of grain cultivation in this area.
