Description

Die Villa Huenniken was built in 1875 and bears the name of a former Hamburg merchant whose wife, née Vorwerk, received the property at the time as a dowry. Even today, this listed building is the focal point of the enchanting cul-de-sac between the Elbe and Wesselhöft Park. Between 2009 and 2012, the villa was extensively renovated and further completed in the years that followed. The main focus was on uncovering the existing stylistic elements, restoring them with great care, and faithfully reconstructing, adding, and supplementing missing features. In this way, a perfect symbiosis of history and modernity has been achieved. From the impressive entrance hall, an elaborately decorated oak staircase leads to the two upper floors. The artfully restored stained-glass stairwell window creates a unique incidence of light. On the ground floor, three interconnected, representative living rooms open off this imposing staircase, featuring two original fireplaces, stucco-decorated ceilings, and views of the park-like garden. The timeless Bulthaup kitchen, with its clear design language, blends harmoniously into the historic architecture. Particular attention was paid to redesigning the conservatory. Historic tiles have been painstakingly reproduced to match the look of the original tiles, and the glass enclosure of the former terrace allows for use almost year-round. In contrast to the historic façade is the garage built in 2020, with a total of three parking spaces, provision for a wallbox, and a bicycle garage. In addition, the courtyard area with its driveway offers further parking spaces. The landscaped redesign of the courtyard and garden provides Villa Huenniken with a picturesque setting: terrace areas, a historic fountain, a natural pond, a large lawn in the southern section, and planted beds create a cozy atmosphere and invite you to linger at home. Teufelsbrück is the name for the mouth of the Flottbek stream where it flows into the Elbe. You can enjoy the view of passing ships from the garden as well as from the terrace, and from the windows of the upper floors the Elbe view to the west and south as far as Finkenwerder. We look forward to showing you Villa Huenniken in person with all its special features.

Location: Nienstedten, Hamburg

The Elbchaussee, on the riverside, is one of Hamburg’s most prestigious addresses. Its diverse architecture, the classic Elbe-view villas of Hamburg’s merchants, the expansive parks with their old trees, and the fine sandy beaches along the Elbe hiking trail give this fantastic street its unique character. Over a length of almost nine kilometers, different districts line up one after another, each with its own charm. In the Teufelsbrück area, located between Nienstedten and Othmarschen, the Elbchaussee is particularly popular. The ferry pier, the miles-long Elbe riverside path, and not least the beautiful Jenisch Park and Wester Park as well as Wesselhöft Park are reachable within a few minutes on foot. Passing ships on the Elbe, a Hamburg beach atmosphere, and a small marina create a wonderful setting here for memorable hours by the water. You can indulge in culinary delights at Café Engel by the ferry pier—hardly any place offers such a breathtaking backdrop; it doesn’t get more Hamburg than this. The proximity to the districts of Blankenese, Nienstedten and Othmarschen, each with its own distinctive charm, makes this location especially attractive.

In addition to numerous medical practices of various specialties, you will also find schools nearby, such as the International School, the Hochrad, and the Christianeum, as well as primary schools and daycare centers. A wide range of sports such as hockey, tennis, golf, sailing or riding can be enjoyed without long travel times. The Elbe Shopping Center, with around 180 shops, offers further shopping options. The A7 motorway, via the Othmarschen interchange, guarantees very good connections to Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein. By car, you can reach Hamburg’s city center in just under 20 minutes, and public transport—such as various bus lines or the S1 from Klein Flottbek S-Bahn station as well as Othmarschen S-Bahn station—provides excellent connections, both to Altona station and, without changing, all the way to the airport.
