The picturesque village of Alaró lies in a quiet valley between two well-known mountains in the south of the Tramuntana mountain range. It is located in the center of the island of Mallorca and currently has more than 5,700 inhabitants. It is about 20 minutes from central Palma, as well as from the nearest beaches and the airport. There are numerous restaurants, as well as our beautiful Engel & Völkers office on the village square. It is characterized by its old architecture and the beautiful cobblestone streets in the oldest part of the village, as well as by the surrounding nature. Every Saturday there is a weekly market in Alaró where you can find fresh local products and clothing. Residents of many different nationalities also give the town great cultural diversity. One of the most famous sights is Castell d'Alaró, located on the mountain summit at an altitude of 822 meters and designated as a cultural monument. From the castle you have a breathtaking view over the Mallorcan landscape and as far as the Bay of Palma, and it is about a two-hour walk from the town center. It is a popular village for cyclists and hikers, as it offers some of the best routes on the island. The village’s most important industry was shoemaking, which once comprised 30 factories and is still home today to the workshop of Tony Mora, world-famous for his handcrafted cowboy boots.
