Agios Stefanos is a lush, green suburb located in the northeastern part of Attica, nestled between the mountains of Penteli and Parnitha and just a few kilometers from Lake Marathon. Its history begins with the 1923 Greek–Turkish population exchange agreement, when around one hundred families from the greater Constantinople area and Asia Minor arrived here after great hardship.
