In progressThe Barrio de las Letras is named in honor of the great literary figures who inhabited its streets in the Spanish Siglo de Oro (Golden Age). Cervantes, Quevedo or Lope de Vega walked through this area located between Paseo del Prado and Plaza de Santa Ana, one of the most popular in Madrid for the charm of its pedestrian streets, stores and restaurants that make it especially lively and with a very extensive cultural and gastronomic offer. Precisely on Lope de Vega Street, in the church of San Ildefonso (convent of the Trinitarias Descalzas), a commemorative plaque reminds us that the remains of the author Miguel de Cervantes rest in an undetermined place in the building. Not far from there we find the house-museum of the playwright Lope de Vega -on Cervantes Street-, who is also buried in the neighborhood, in the church of San Sebastián (Atocha Street).
