Cavagnolo is a small town in the province of Turin, located halfway between the capital (40 km) and Asti (35 km), close to the Lower Monferrato. It boasts an ancient and complex history. The name itself suggests Celtic origins, and its history is marked by various dominations, from the Marquessate of Ivrea to the Church of Vercelli, to the Marquises of Monferrato, and finally to the House of Savoy. Its geographical position on the hills of Monferrato has contributed to making it a strategic and contested territory. Walking through the streets of the town, one perceives its ancient past, reinforced by a visit to the ancient Romanesque Abbey named Santa Fede, built in the mid-12th century and located in a small valley among vineyards and woods; it is today one of the most representative Romanesque monuments in Piedmont. The first week of August, the municipality of Cavagnolo prepares to celebrate its patron saint, St. Eusebius, with a rich calendar of gastronomic events and dance evenings that enliven the community's summer nights.
