Green building and Masseria

A plot of land measuring just over 2 hectares, completely enriched with fruit trees, olive groves and vegetable gardens, surrounds Masseria Cataldo. Historically known by this name, it is a place that allows you to fully immerse yourself in the slow pace of life in Salento. Finely renovated just over 5 years ago, we find a property that combines functionality with sustainability. Thanks to green building techniques and attention to every technical detail, Masseria Cataldo has been reborn as the perfect place to live a healthy life in peace with oneself. The outdoor areas with the swimming pool lend style and elegance to this unique location. The Masseria has been completely excavated to make room for a ventilation cavity that guarantees the total absence of rising damp, a classic problem in country houses. The organic lime on the walls, combined with the original chianche tiles laid on the floor, create a very warm and welcoming atmosphere inside. The three bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and are completely independent of each other with access from the garden. All three bedrooms have a small outdoor area that can be used as a cosy living room under the starry sky. The main house, on the other hand, was built on the opposite side to the three bedrooms, beyond the living area, which is the heart of the masseria, to ensure privacy and control of the property. This area can be enjoyed without disturbing the other bedrooms and is connected externally to the laundry area. The structure allows you to enjoy the summer, making the most of the swimming pool and outdoor garden areas, but it is also very comfortable during the winter. Its energy consumption is reduced to a minimum thanks to high-efficiency systems. There is an artesian well, photovoltaic and solar thermal panels, a pellet stove that transfers heat to the radiators and an Imhoff system for the natural disposal of waste water. All systems are certified and in perfect working order. To date, the owners themselves maintain and care for both the house and the land, making the property productive for both tourism and agriculture. Life in the Masseria has never ceased to be active, and this fact means that the property is in impeccable condition today.
