Porto Rotondo, located on the north-eastern coast of Sardinia, is an important destination for national and international tourism. It is considered a jewel in the crown alongside Porto Cervo in Gallura. This hamlet of Olbia is situated just a few kilometers away from Golfo Aranci, Palau and Arzachena. Spread across 500 hectares of land between the gulfs of Cugnana and Marinella, Porto Rotondo boasts a well-equipped marina with 800 berths and is home to approximately one thousand residents during winter. The town was founded in 1964 as part of an initiative by a group of entrepreneurs, led by Venetians Luigi and Nicolò Donà dalle Rose. As a result, the architecture resembles that of Venice and the main square is called Piazzetta San Marco. Several luxury and extra-luxury hotels, along with sumptuous residences, can be found in this area. Poltu Rutundu is a popular summer residence for wealthy celebrities from finance and show business. One of the most significant and spectacular deep-sea fishing events in the Mediterranean, the Big Game, takes place in Porto Rotondo every late August. The Porto Rotondo Yacht Club was officially established in 1985 and has become one of the most important clubs at the national level with strong ties to the Italian Yacht Club in Genoa.
