Location: Trontano, Piedmont
Trontano (Truntan in Ossola dialect) is an Italian municipality of 1 624 inhabitants in the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola in Piedmont and is 132 km from Milan, 46 km from Verbania, and 6 km from Domodossola. This village is very convenient to reach because of road and rail connections. The municipality is composed of numerous hamlets scattered along the mountainside. The main town is located 520 m above sea level on the road from Domodossola to the Vigezzo Valley. The municipal territory is crossed by the numerous watercourses, and the main mountains are Mount Togano and Mount Tignolino. Monuments and places of interest also rise in this context, including the Church of the Nativity of Mary, of ancient origin, remodeled a first time in the 16th century and again in later centuries. Trontano is part of the municipalities of the Val Grande National Park. This village also offers a unique food and wine scene because of the climate, culture and long history steeped in the stones and plants of these mountains.
