The municipality of Schengen has recently (November 2025) opened the possibility of changing the use of the existing building to primarily residential, with the possibility of a commercial unit on the ground floor (subject to the presentation of a coherent architectural project largely respecting the pre-existing volumes). The applicable prescriptions allow for up to 5 residential units and 1 commercial unit in the existing building, with a total gross built area of approximately 1050 m2. Additionally, it is possible to construct a new building along Doelchen Street housing up to 3 residential units, following the introduction of a subdivision procedure. The existing building requires thorough renovation. Parking spaces must in principle be arranged at a rate of 2.5 spaces per residential unit.
