Uboldo is located in the southeastern appendix of the province of Varese, near the towns of Gerenzano and Origgio, and is also situated 3 km southwest of Saronno, the largest nearby city. Milan, to which it is connected by a bus service, is 22 km away. The settlement is characterized by an ancient core, with four peripheral districts originating from farmsteads named Girola, Soccorso, Malpaga (all three to the north), and Regosella (to the south). The municipality of Uboldo underwent an industrial transformation at the beginning of the last century: the 1960s and subsequent years saw a significant demographic increase, growing from 4,400 inhabitants in 1950 to the current 10,656. Various powerful families were in Uboldo, with the Crivelli family being undoubtedly the oldest, followed in modern times by the Villani as the lords of Uboldo. Every year in Uboldo, between the first and second week of June, the Palio takes place, where the four districts of Bell, Lazzarett, San Cosma, and Taron compete. The event was held from 1975 to 1992, then resumed in 2005.
