At a short distance, you can find the charming fishing villages of Alvor with its beatiful sandy beaches and its famous golfs such as Penina Golf. Portimão, the largest city in the Western Algarve with all the infrastuctures is as well at short distance. It was once a place where boat building, sardine fishing and fish processing accounted for most of the city's activity. However, most of this industry has been replaced by tourism, entertainment and services, turning it into a large residential town, in perfect harmony with its pedestrianised historic centre and riverside areas. This evolution has transformed the city into an attractive place for shopping and admiring its history and proximity to the river and sea.
