Artemis (Artemida) is a town and a municipal community
of the Kallikratio Municipality of Spata - Artemis, in the eastern
suburbs of Athens, located in close proximity to the sanctuary of
Vravrona where Artemis, the deity of hunting, was worshipped. The
city is built by the sea, in the bay of Artemis. The population showed
a great increase in the 1990s, as well as in the last five years. The
port serves mainly fishing and private boats. The beach is a popular
summer destination, attracting thousands of bathers and there are
several cafes and bars in a very short distance.
Accessibility: Artemis is connected by public transport to Spata and
Rafina. Artemis Avenue connects Artemis to Athens via Spata,
Vravronos Avenue to Porto Rafti (Markopoulo) and Artemis Avenue
to Rafina. There are plans to connect Artemis to Eleftherios
Venizelos Airport by suburban railway.
Investment Dynamics: Today it is one of the most populous areas of
eastern Attica and is rapidly transforming from a holiday resort town
of Mesogeia to a place of permanent residence, with Loutsa as its
