The parish of Benfica is today a vast urban and populous cluster that harmoniously coexists with the old and the modern, as well as the rural and the urban. It encompasses about two-thirds of the Monsanto Forest Park, also known as the Lung of Lisbon. The parish is divided among the main neighborhoods of the parish: Boavista, Charquinho, Pedralvas, Calhariz Velho, Calhariz Novo, and Santa Cruz. A parish with a high concentration of services, schools ranging from basic to higher education, traditional commerce, shopping centers, public transport, and easy access to all parts of the city, including Silva Porto Park, Benfica Market, Baldaya Palace, Colombo Shopping Center, Quinta da Granja, and the Higher School of Education.
