Description

In the picturesque town of San Bernardino Verbano, a large period villa on four floors, the furnishings and finishes with a Bohemian flavor bring fully to life the era in which the property was built, where even the smallest detail has been carefully studied and designed to make each room of the house unique. The entrance and the stone staircase, both located in the center of the villa, divide in a fair and rational way each floor since the access on the road where we find on the right a charming tavern with a large fireplace and a charming wood oven , ideal as a conversation corner, while on the left we find a dressing room with access to the laundry and wine cellar. Going up to the second floor we find the living area with a large living room, with adjoining guest bathroom, the dining room that directly overlooks the kitchen, embellished with Lacanche stove and wood stove, and the balcony that runs along the entire perimeter of the facade. From the mezzanine floor, where we find a large bathroom and a storage room that can be repurposed as a third bathroom, we access the second floor where the large sleeping area extends with two double bedrooms, each with its own vestiaire and period sink. On the third and last attic floor with a height of 2 mt. , finished with charming wood paneling and exposed beams and lit by electric velux, you enter a living area with mega screen and oversize sofa, a study and a guest room with washbasin. Both top floors enjoy splendid views of their respective balconies with magnificent views of the mountains of the Ossola Valleys. Enriching the interiors of the villa are authentic frescoes on the ceilings from the 1900s. The property is completed by a magnificent garden of approx. 900 sqm where you can enjoy moments of extreme relax by the beautiful swimming pool served by a large pool room, and a large garage of approx. 50 sqm above which was located the old barn easily convertible into a comfortable apartment of equal size.

Location: San Bernardino Verbano, Bieno

In the neighborhood of the Ossola Valleys, between Valgrande Lake Maggiore and Lake Mergozzo, lies the municipality of San Bernardino Verbano, a picturesque village, which takes its name from the small stream that springs from Val Grande and crosses its territory, and includes the three hamlets of Bieno, Santino and Rovegro, unified in the new municipality in 1928. Joined by ancient mule tracks dotted with small votive chapels, the three hamlets halt glimpses of the past thanks to the ancient stone artifacts in the historic cores. From the fountains of Bieno, to the arched covered passageways of Santino, to the typical wells of Rovegro, to the rural structures of the courtyards and mountain pastures, all set in a gently undulating territory covered with forests, meadows and cultivated land, at the foot of Mount Castello. Almost uniting the three hamlets, and introducing the mule tracks leading to the upper pastures, the shrine of the Madonna del Patrocinio was historically the destination of endless penitential and propitiatory processions of farmers, shepherds and woodcutters. The location of the municipality of San Bernardino is within easy reach of highways and the Verbania train station, giving ample ease in reaching major metropolitan cities such as Milan and Turin, and allows easy access to nearby Switzerland via the Simplon Pass and the Brissago-Locarno Pass.
