Agios Stefanos is a lush suburb located northeast of Athens, between the mountains of Penteli and Parnitha and just a few kilometers from the Marathon Lake. Its history starts with the Greek-Turkish population exchange convention of 1923, when roughly one hundred families from the metropolitan area of Constantinople and from Minor Asia reached after much suffering this place. The only thing that existed here was the train station with the name Oion. The refugees have created New Bogiati or Agios Stefanos.
