At the present time it has already been restored under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry for Culture and Archaeological Heritage. That' why it has strictly maintained its initial Cycladic architecture. Ano Mera: Location and surroundings of this property

Ano Mera is the second biggest provincial town after Mykonos Chora (the capital town of Mykonos island). It is one of the oldest towns of Mykonos. The district offers a few luxurious hotels and comfortable rooms and studios for renting. Ano Mera projects the image of a quiet and picturesque village due to the act that it is not overrun by tourists although it is a fairly touristy area. This is to say that the locals, visitors and guests lead their everyday lives without being interrupted by crowds of tourists, as it usually happens with the cosmopolitan daylife and bustiling nighlife of Mykonos Chora. The region around Ano Mera offers a lot of interesting places to visit. Some landmarks and attractions are the Paleokastro Monastery which is well-known for its architectural style, the historic Monastery of Panagia Tourliani; its main church houses a marvellous collection of icons made by a famous Cretan painter as wells as holy vessels and vestments. Another highlight is its impressive bell-tower and the marble fountain in the courtyard of the monastery. Last but not least Gyzi Castle perched upon the village affords panoramic views for both the “adventurous” outdoor enthusiasts who make up their minds to access it climbing and the more pro-relaxer who find their way there either on foot or by vehicle. There are ancient ruins of things like the old local market, the castle itself, and even an old cemetery. In any case the Greek island of Mykonos has a lot to boast for regardless of the parties that the island is known for.
