Herzogpark is one of the most popular and best residential addresses in the state capital and is characterised by magnificent, historic villas and modern estates. It is part of the prestigious Bogenhausen district and thus one of Munich's most exclusive neighbourhoods. Herzogpark was only created at the beginning of the 19th century. After the Isar was regulated, dry land was created in the floodplain landscape of the Isar. The garden architect Friedrich Ludwig von Sckell created a garden complex here for Minister Montgelas. Duke Max in Bavaria later acquired this garden and gave his name to the Herzogpark. Herzogpark achieved the social standing it still enjoys today in the 1920s and 1930s, when entrepreneurs, private individuals, prominent scientists and artists - including Thomas Mann - built their homes here. A noble social life developed. Thanks to its ideal location on the Isar floodplains, Herzogpark offers a wide range of opportunities.
