Intragna: Location and surroundings of this property
Intragna stands on a rocky promontory, at about 376 a.s.l. between the rivers Melezza and Isorno, and is part of the municipality of Centovalli. The village has a charming centre with the church of San Gottardo, the highest church tower in Ticino, the Centovalli Regional Museum, the town hall and the beautiful patrician house. It also has a rectory, a school with a kindergarten, a primary school and a regional old people’s home. In addition to the bakery, the butcher, the post office and the bank in the village, there are various gastronomic restaurants in Intragna and the Centovalli as well as the neighbouring Terre di Pedemonte. A supermarket is also being built in Intragna. The village includes all the hamlets between Intragna and Verdasio, such as Corcapolo, Pila-Costa and Rasa. Locarno and Ascona are only a few kilometres away from Intragna, yet the Centovalli area is relatively unspoilt. Other special features are above all the Roman bridge over the river Melezza, the various mountains, from Calascio, Comino or Terra Vecchia (old Rasa) and the countless side valleys.
