Guillaume Tirel, also known as Taillevent was born in 1310. According to stories, the boy was already in his youngest years in the kitchen of the then queen as a cook boy. According to modern lore, Taillevent was the first cook to write a book on the art of cooking and gastronomic technique at the age of 30 and named it Le Viandier. Even today, this book is an important foundation for French cuisine.
