On 12 May 2020, the Engel & Völkers Shops from the regions Zurich and Zug hosted an English webinar on the topic of "the current crisis & the opportunity for the real estate market" with around 700 registrations.
The Managing Partners of the Engel & Völkers offices in the economic area Zurich/Zug highlighted the developments and prospects in the residential and commercial property market.
Conclusion:
After 8 weeks of lockdown, Engel & Völkers identifies no significant price changes around Lake Zurich and Lake Zug. The demand for real estate remains high and the supply is low. Therefore, customers should not speculate on bargains - the market is too dry for that. The luxury segment could feel a slight pressure, with possible losses of 5-10%. However, buyers' willingness to pay depends very much on the location and the property itself.
Thanks to digital solutions offered by Engel & Völkers, in recent weeks it has been still possible to view properties and follow up on day-to-day business.
The speakers continue to see good opportunities in the consistently attractive Swiss real estate market, which is proving to be resilient even in the crisis, particularly in the area of residential property. The reduction of restrictions has a motivating effect and the personal real estate plans of our clients are picking up noticeably.
