In the context of the gatherings with which the Real Estate company Engel & Völkers meets as a team and promotes the knowledge of the area, a very interesting one took place a few days ago. It consisted of a visit to the winery Llivins, in Cerdanya, specifically in the town of Llívia. During the day, those present had the opportunity to learn how the project of this innovative winery came about, how it grows its vines and how it makes its wine. The visit to the Llivins winery allowed them to get to know the vineyards, admire their landscapes, enjoy a wine tasting and a delicious barbecue. Thus ended a wonderful day of wine tourism that was a great success that the participants will never forget.
A different type of tourism in Cerdanya
Wine tourism is another way of getting to know a territory and in the case of beautiful Cerdanya it has even more relevance. The reason is Llivins has been the first winery to recover the tradition of viticulture in this area of the Pyrenees. It was the year 2011 when the winemakers Anna Baqués and Isaac Rigau started the project for their winery. In collaboration with three other entrepreneurs, they began their dream of producing wine at a height over 1,200 meters. This is how Llivins was born, the first producer of high-altitude wines in the area that, in addition, is respectful of its natural environment.
This tendency to cultivate vineyards in height is becoming more and more frequent under the suspicion that climate change could cause many traditional vine-growing areas to deteriorate. However, the same phenomenon is causing mountain areas to now be considered suitable for viticulture. In addition, the temperature peaks that occur in the mountains are used to produce wines with different nuances.
Cerdanya receives many visitors every year and wine tourism is yet another alternative to the varied and attractive tourist offer found in the region. Among the wonders found here are the architecture of its towns, the wonderful Romanesque heritage and also the natural environment of the Pyrenees, the lakes, the ski resorts or the hiking trails. In short, Cerdanya offers visitors a wide variety of tourist attractions that Engel & Völkers encourages you to enjoy.
