Torrevieja does not have a traditional old town as such, what is referred to as the old town is known today as Torrevieja Centro, or centre. It’s is quite contemporary, vibrant, and thoroughly modern - a far cry from the usual Spanish old town.

Torrevieja Centro is fronted by beaches on one side and the marina on the other. More often than not you can witness jet skiing, parasailing, and many boating activities in Torrevieja’s seafront. This is one of the few coastal areas in Spain (along with benidorm) where modern city centre services are offered alongside a Mediterranean resort lifestyle. It’s not uncommon to see the early evening bars frequented by both executives and families in relaxed beachwear.
The main town square, right in the heart of the centre, is called the Plaza de la Constitution. This charming square is flanked by a beautiful park, the Parque de las Naciones, on one side and a large church on the other. The bustling Centro is home to many of Torrevieja’s museums, historic monuments, parks, and waterparks.

Beaches
Torrevieja’s local beaches hold the European Blue Flag for ‘Clean Sea’ and excellent facilities. One such beach, Playa Del Cura, is immediately in front of the city centre area. Two long breakwaters shield the beach from the open sea, resulting in gentle and low waves. This makes it safe for smaller children to enjoy themselves and for adults to take a leisurely dip. Right behind the beach is a grand esplanade called the Avenida de Los Marineros. This palm-tree dotted urban promenade has numerous restaurants, cafes, ice cream shops and bars.
The old town is also in the vicinity of many calas (coves), beaches, and saline swimming pools such as:
Punta Carral O Margalla
Piscinas Naturales
Piscinas Artificiales
