Located in Torrevieja's hamlet of Torrelamata, Playa de la Mata (here is a map) is a white fine sandy beach that extends for 2,300 m.
It is delimited to the south by the Cabo Cervera and to the north by the Tower of La Mata (Torrelamata) which gives the district its name.

Sidled by a long promenade that stretches all the way to Playa de Los Naúfragos, this residential area is ideal for a family with children, and singles or couples that enjoy convenience, entertainment and nightlife, and all without the hustle and bustle of city living.

Including La Mata, Torrevieja has 4 beaches, all of them with calm protected waters and accompanied by numerous services such as restaurants, cafes and all the essential beach facilities like children's play areas, lifeguard surveillance, information booths, and disabled access.

La Mata’s natural scenic environment, traditional village charm, and Spanish cultural affluence make it a perfect place for a relaxed,  healthy, and laidback lifestyle. Because of the lack of crowded commercial areas and congested roads, people who live or visit La Mata experience a way of life that is free from the usual stress of cities or highly urbanized towns.

Residential areas are situated inland, near the wide expanse of sand dunes, and separated from La Mata Beach by the promenade which runs along the beach’s shores. Many apartments are set behind the promenade, while most villas are located further inland, in exclusive neighbourhoods which often offer views of the beach and lagoon.

Due to its small size and well-protected natural reserves, there are no big roads or highways in the area. Facilities are located near the residential areas so it’s usually only a short walk to the nearest supermarket or restaurant. La Mata’s promenade is a lovely place to enjoy a morning or evening stroll while admiring the views and taking in the relaxing atmosphere. Many beach bars, shops, and stalls are located next to the promenade, so it’s easy to browse merchandise or enjoy drinks and a meal accompanied by a fresh sea breeze.

According to the major property portals in Spain (Idealista, Rightmove, Kyero, Fotocasa etc), the average property price for houses in the La Mata district is 2.600 Euros per sqm, while luxury villas average 2.900 Euros per square metre.

Apartments are more readily available and list for an average of 1.700 Euros per sqm. 

Penthouses and seafront apartments average 1.900 Euros per square meter.
