What’s your name and where are you from?
My full name is Sudharshan Ravindran, and I also go by Suddi. I am originally from Sri Lanka, but have been living in various countries, including, Botswana, Maldives, Canada and Hong Kong.
What do you do at E&V Technology?
I am a Backend Software Engineer, I bring to life and maintain everything that the user does not get to see, behind the scenes on the company’s servers. I am currently working on the revampment of the financial backbone for the company.
What are some of the challenges you have faced so far?
The biggest challenge I have faced so far is the same challenge that every new developer faces when entering a new company: getting up to speed with all of the various development projects and tools being used, and getting to the point of being a productive member of the team.
My typical day at E&V includes..
The first challenge is finding a desk, as we employ an open office practice and the best ultrawide monitors are in high demand, we always face competition in nailing down the best seats in the office. But once I have found my workstation, I start off my morning with a coffee and then delve into the code.
What technology are you most excited about working with next?
I am excited about a lot of technologies: I am interested in Elixir, a functional, concurrent programming language on the Erlang VM that takes a very different approach to code in. I also enjoy working with DevOps tools and technologies, and at E&V, we are using Kubernetes on GKE to orchestrate our deployments and SaltStack as our Infrastructure as Code tool. Both of these are very interesting and am keen to delve into them further.
What was a great surprising thing you discovered after joining E&V?
I was very impressed with how the HR department ensured a smooth process in my relocation. Relocating halfway across the world is never an easy process, but the HR team ensured that everything that I needed to submit and cover were handled promptly and hasslefree.

I don’t drink coffee, in the traditional sense. I drink milk with coffee flavour :-)
