One of the most remarkable attractions that Umbria offers is certainly the Castle of Montecolognola which stands on a dominant hill in the municipality of Magione, where every year it captures many tourists for its historical importance and for its extraordinary view of Lake Trasimeno.
Located in a hill about 400 meters above the sea level, it offers a wonderful view of Lake Trasimeno with breathtaking sunsets that every year amaze thousands of tourists from all over the world. Besides the view and the greenery in which it is immersed, the castle offers other attractions not to be missed such as the fortress of the Church of Santa Maria Annunziata, the bell tower, the arch of the Abside and 300 meters to the south the splendid Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Fontanelle.
In 2017 the municipality of Magione carried out cleaning and renovation of the walls of the castle and the opening of a panoramic pedestrian path, with the aim of enhancing its appearance in the best possible way.
