The area in the sixteenth century appears entirely covered with vegetation, while already at the end of 1700 begins to be urbanized with a few houses right on the two main axes today respectively via Tommasi and via San Giuseppe dei Nudi. Religious complexes and conventual buildings of considerable importance appeared over time. Today the area is one of the most central of the city, a short walk from the Archaeological Museum, the Galleria Principe and Piazza Bellini. The proximity to Piazza Cavour determines its privileged position for public transport (two metro lines, bus and railway line) and for tourism.
