Nago Torbole: Location and surroundings of this property
Lying at the wooded foot of Monte Baldo, in the shadow of the ruins of Castel Penede, the Busatte hill looks like a terrace suspended over the lake, where the view is lost in an infinite embrace of water, light, rocks and olive trees, until the eyes meet the horizon beyond the lake.
Just below the hill and nestled at the lake shore is Torbole sul Garda, an ancient fishing village, which has now become a lively spot favoured by lovers of nature and active holidays. The small marina with the Old Custom House and elegant Casa Beust is fascinating in itself, as well as the starting point for beautiful boat trips. Lovers of sailing, windsurfing and kitesurfing meet here from all over the world, while those who turn their eyes towards the mountains discover a paradise for walking, trekking, climbing and mountain biking.
It seems that the view from Castel Penede inspired Dante Alighieri's famous verses "of the lake at the foot of the Alps ... which has the name of Benaco". Albrecht Dürer (in 1495) and the French philosopher de Montaigne (in 1780) were followed by Goethe, who began his journey in Italy from Torbole on 12 September 1786. Actually it was here he discovered for the first time the sweet flavour of the Mediterranean world.
