Lorenzatico belongs to the San Giovanni in Persiceto area in the province of Bologna, 5km away from the same city, context of one of the most singular Carnevale in Italy. The town spreads all around a medieval borgo named Borgo Rotondo and its core hides in Piazza del popolo where the Colleggiata by San Giovanni Battista the Palazzo comunale and the town theatre can be found. The most ancient building in town is called the Palazzaccio, a typical example of a medieval bolognese house given the presence of an high portico made with oak tree wood. Worth the visit is the monastery complex of San Francesco, though nowadays in a phase of restoration.
